Road Recordings Projects - An Overview

Unlike most commercial works, these recordings are both perfect and imperfect – a result of incorporating limitations and unique environmental effects, brought on by the interaction between sound, place, and people. Though the performances and recordings won’t always be “perfect”, if there is such a thing, they will be authentic. Listen carefully and you will hear elements of nature, street noise, doors opening and closing, and more - all of which reflect how sound, places, and people interact and influence our sonic world. Through these projects, we hope to help you discover more about current musicians, undiscovered talent, unique places, and the complexity of sound engineering.

We search for places that can enhance and support great musical performances. Here, you can explore the works of various musicians in different locations, playing a variety of musical works on a variety of instruments.

From cities to forests, nature to industry, and organic to artificial, our world is full of sonic elements. Considered by some to be the music of nature and mankind, soundscapes define places and who we are. Take time from your day to explore the beauty of constructed and natural soundscapes here.
